Microsoft Dragon Copilot is available everywhere you work: on the web, on a secure desktop, on your mobile device. This guide provides information about how to set up Dragon Copilot web, desktop and mobile; for information on how to integrate Dragon Copilot into your EHR, see Build solutions using Dragon Copilot.
You can move seamlessly between the different versions throughout your workflow. For example, start an ambient recording of your patient encounter in the mobile version of Dragon Copilot on your mobile phone, then move over to the web app to review and finalize your note.
Dragon Copilot clients
Dragon Copilot desktop: The Dragon Copilot desktop app for Windows provides you with the most advanced and capable way of delivering content directly into your EHR without integration.
Dragon Copilot mobile: The Dragon Copilot mobile app is always at hand, wherever you go. It offers the best ambient recording experience and also allows for offline recording.
Dragon Copilot web: The Dragon Copilot web app is available wherever you have access to a web browser; it provides the easiest and fastest onboarding and implementation experience because it requires no installation or configuration.
General prerequisites
Bandwidth requirements
Dragon Copilot requires a minimum bandwidth of 64 kbps.
Latency requirements
- Minimum: < 500 ms
- Recommended: < 200 ms
Important
Dragon Copilot performance is impacted when proxy servers are used. Proxy servers add latency and might lack the throughput to properly process Dragon Copilot traffic. This negatively impacts the user experience of Dragon Copilot and can result in apparent loss of audio, lack of response by the Dragon Copilot Service, and other workflow/connectivity problems. Therefore, traffic from the client environment to the Dragon Copilot Service running in a data center must be excluded from proxying, also transparent proxying.
Regional firewall requirements
Depending on which data center you're connecting to, Dragon Copilot requires access to the following URLs; make sure your firewall doesn't block them.

Microphone requirements
By default, Dragon Copilot uses the microphone configured in the system or browser settings. You can configure your preferred microphone in the Dragon Copilot in-app settings. For more information, see the Dragon Copilot user guide.
Microphones for dictation
The following microphones have been tested and are recommended for dictating:
PowerMic III and 4
Philips SpeechMike
Microphones for ambient recording
Dictation microphones, such as PowerMic and SpeechMike, are unidirectional which isolates the speaker's voice and reduces background noise. For ambient recording, where more than one person is speaking, you should use an omnidirectional microphone, which captures sound equally from all directions.
Microphones for ambient recording must fulfill the following requirements:
Type: Condenser microphone for detailed sound capture.
Connectivity: USB for plug-and-play; Bluetooth is not recommended.
Frequency response: 20 Hz to 20 kHz.
Polar patterns: Must support omnidirectional recording.
Sensitivity: -40 dB to -60 dB.
Signal-to-noise ratio (SNR): Above 70 dB, preferably with active noise cancellation.
Bit depth and sample rate: 24-bit/96 kHz.
Build quality: Durable materials with a sturdy stand or mount. The microphone should be placed where it can pick up audio from all conversation parties.
Tip
For specific microphone recommendations, see the microphones recommended for conference calls in Microsoft Teams; these are also suitable for ambient recording in Dragon Copilot.
