Overview

The Azure Data Manager for Agriculture (ADMA) extends the Microsoft Intelligent Data Platform with industry-specific data connectors and capabilities to connect farm data from disparate sources, enabling organizations to use high-quality datasets and accelerate the development of digital agriculture solutions. With the 2024 release wave 1, we’re providing key enhancements for analytics scenarios to align with leading industry standards. Enhanced ability for data set curation, compatibility with industry leading analytics services, more powerful geospatial scenario support and repeatable data transformation workflows all work together to provide rich new analytics and AI capabilities.

Agriculture data solutions - Data ingestion
Azure Data Manager for Agriculture connects and unifies farm data from disparate sources so that organizations can develop solutions that power agriculture insights. It extends the Microsoft Intelligent Data Platform with industry-specific data connectors and capabilities so developers can use data from satellites, soil sensors, farming equipment, weather providers, and more. Instead of devoting resources to data management, organizations can accelerate product innovation with the ability to use readily available, high quality, and abundant data.

Agriculture data solutions - Data Interoperability
A barrier to digital transformation is that agriculture does not have any data standardization nor any specific industry standards. However, it is a regulated industry especially as it relates to farm inputs such as seeds and crop protection products. To enable insights, each customer/ISV needs to invest in their own proprietary data models, making interoperability complex. Azure Data Manager for Agriculture provides a clear path to interoperability with a standard data model, data transformation processes and referenceable data sets.

Copilot template for Digital Agriculture
With Azure Data Manager for Agriculture, you can bring together farming data from various sources and use it to run apps on top of the data. The data is stored with the highest standards of security, and our data manager is built to help ensure growers’ data privacy and ownership per regulation. After the apps are using farm data from Azure Data Manager, you can use additional Azure services to build and run models or analytics on a scale. Or you can explore and license solutions from independent software vendors on Azure Marketplace to meet your needs. With Azure Data Manager for Agriculture, we’re aiming to provide organizations with analysis-ready data so they can reallocate time, people, and resources to innovative, differentiated solutions, instead of data management.

Today, prescriptive insights are typically derived from one data source and not others. But for stronger insights to drive better decision making or to predict a future state, you need data from various sources. The accuracy of predictions correlates with the quality of the data used to make those predictions. Hence, you need the ability to reason over different data sets that are temporally and geospatially aligned. With farm data from multiple sources, solutions running on Azure Data Manager provide stronger and more accurate insights.
