Your organization has unique requirements for content and layout when it comes to sustainability analytics. By using Microsoft Sustainability Manager, you can create customized versions of the built-in insights pages across emissions, water, and waste.
Using the standard built-in insights pages as a baseline provides both a cost and time savings when building a customized dashboard. Your customized dashboard highlights the content most important to your organization, providing faster analysis and decision-making.
Prerequisites
- To create custom dashboards, you need administrator privileges. A user is an administrator if they're in the root business unit and assigned one of these roles: "Sustainability all - reports - full access", "Sustainability all - full access", or "System Administrator". For more information about roles and permissions, see Manage user roles and access.

Customize your insights dashboards
To create custom insights dashboards, follow these steps:
Sign in to Sustainability Manager with admin permissions.
Go to any insights page, including Emissions, Water, or Waste.
Select Copy to create a copy of the built-in analytics dashboard.
Select Edit to start customizing the new copy of the analytics dashboard.
Use the Power BI designer to select data, apply filters, and build visualizations.
After you tailor the analytical pages to your organizational requirements, select Save. A message appears:
Save custom dashboard? This process might take a few minutes. Don't refresh the page.
Select Save to confirm.
All users with reporting privileges now see the customized version of your insights page by default.
Switch between default and customized dashboards
After you customize a dashboard, a Custom dashboard toggle appears. Use this toggle to switch between the customized and default dashboards.
- Turn on the Custom dashboard toggle to view the customized dashboard.
- Turn off the Custom dashboard toggle to view the default dashboard.
Note
This functionality works on the client side only, and the toggle state isn't saved. If you refresh the page or go to another page, the toggle resets to the ON state.
Delete a customized dashboard
As an administrator, you can delete a customized dashboard by selecting Delete. A confirmation window appears:
Delete custom Dashboard? You can always recreate your custom dashboard, but deleting this dashboard can't be undone.
Select Delete to confirm. The custom dashboard is removed along with the toggle option.
