Important

Some or all of this functionality is available as part of a preview release. The content and the functionality are subject to change.

Your organization has unique requirements for content and layout when it comes to sustainability analytics. With Microsoft Sustainability Manager, you can create customized versions of the built-in insights pages across emissions, water, and waste.

With Sustainability Manager's analytical reporting extensibility, you can create a customized dashboard. Using the standard built-in insights pages as a baseline provides both a cost and time savings when building a customized dashboard. Your customized dashboard highlights the content most important to your organization, providing faster analysis and decision-making.

Prerequisites

  • To create custom dashboards, you need administrator privileges.
  • If you're not familiar with customizing Power BI dashboards, review the Power BI documentation for instructions and ideas:

Customize your insights dashboards

To create custom insight dashboards, follow these steps.

  1. Sign into Sustainability Manager with admin permissions.

  2. Go to any insights page, including Emissions, Water, or Waste.

  3. To create a copy of the built-in analytics dashboard, select Copy.

  4. To start customizing the new copy of the analytics dashboard, select Edit.

  5. Use the Power BI designer to select data, filter, and build visualizations.

  6. After you tailor the analytical pages to your organizational requirements, select Save. A message appears:

Save custom dashboard? This could take a few minutes. Please do not refresh the page in the meanwhile.

  7. Select Save to confirm.

The customized version of your insights page is now available by default for all users that have reporting privileges.

Switch between default and customized dashboards

After you customize a dashboard, a toggle appears on the page so that users can switch between the customized and default dashboards.

  • To view the default dashboard, turn off the Custom dashboard (preview) toggle.
  • To view the newly created dashboard, turn on the Custom dashboard (preview) toggle.

Delete a customized dashboard

As an administrator, you can delete a customized dashboard by selecting Delete. A confirmation window displays:

Delete custom Dashboard? You can always recreate your custom dashboard, but deleting this one cannot be undone.

Select Delete. The custom dashboard is removed along with the toggle option.
