Video Ads offer advertisers an avenue to deliver tailored information to members’ LinkedIn Feed in a creative and succinct way. Incorporating LinkedIn’s video functionality can help engage business decision-makers on LinkedIn's mobile and desktop news feed.

Advertisers usually take one of the following two paths, when creating video ads:

  • Post videos on a Company Page, evaluate organic growth and then sponsor the video post to reach more than just followers.
  • Create video ads that bypass Company Page followers and directly target LinkedIn members' news feed.

Requirements

Your application must have an access token with the following scopes:

  • rw_ads to manage Ad Accounts
  • w_organization_social to create posts on a Company Page
  • r_organization_social to read posts from a Company Page

Additionally, the authenticated member must meet both of the following conditions:

  • Be an ADMINISTRATOR of a Company Page or a DIRECT_SPONSORED_CONTENT_POSTER with access to Campaign Manager.
  • Have one of the following ad account roles:
    • ACCOUNT_BILLING_ADMIN
    • ACCOUNT_MANAGER
    • CAMPAIGN_MANAGER
    • CREATIVE_MANAGER

Workflows

Sponsoring an Existing Organic Video

  • Obtain authorization from the user to manage LinkedIn Ad Account and Company Page data.
  • Ask user to select or create Ad Accounts they would like to manage.
  • Upload a video as a vector media asset.
  • Create an organic ugcPost on the Company Page referencing the uploaded media asset.
  • Track its organic growth.
  • Create a Video Ad Campaign.
  • Verify access to create Video Ads using the organizationalEntityCreateShareAuthorizations API.
  • Create an AdDirectSponsoredContent.
  • Create a Video Ad Creative.

Creating a Direct Sponsored Video

  • Obtain authorization from the user to manage LinkedIn Ad Account and Company Page data.
  • Ask user to select or create Ad Accounts they would like to manage.
  • Upload a video as a vector media asset.
  • Create a dark ugcPost on the Company Page referencing the uploaded media asset.
  • Create a Video Ad Campaign
  • Verify access to create Video Ads using the organizationalEntityCreateShareAuthorizations API.
  • Create an AdDirectSponsoredContent.
  • Create a Video Ad Creative.
