Platform overview
The Microsoft Device Ecosystem Platform (MDEP) is the Android-based platform from Microsoft that enables device manufacturers and software developers to deliver innovative solutions, backed by Microsoft's reputation for security, trust, and management. Built on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), the platform is designed to be extended and customized for both hardware and software solutions.
MDEP2024.2 introduces Hardware-based attestation with Microsoft Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), and Microsoft Secure Pairing. Combined with core Android security features, this means that organizations can now strengthen their security posture and detect if a device has been compromised, even at its deepest components. MDEP’s hardware attestation status will soon be visible in Intune and support Intune’s policy based conditional access to enable organizations to implement zero-trust principles and practices.
