Features implemented in this release

List of key features

  1. MDEP Configuration API: A centralized way for partner services and components to interact with MDEP. Lets the OEMs manage MDEP features such as device synchronization, pairing, admin session, and read/update of the device settings, without having to worry about the complexity of each system. Provides an abstracted API that covers all required business logic functions for managing the runtime device configuration. Extensible by partners for managing additional functionality. Published via the Microsoft SDK for use by OEMs and third parties.

  2. MDEP Public API SDK: Common SDK for all MDEP Services Public APIs – accessible by both MDEP and OEM apps, including 3rd party VaaS providers.

  3. App Integrity Service: Continuous monitoring of on-device app integrity to detect and respond to potentially dangerous and fraudulent interactions with cloud component. Features a reference implementation.

  4. SOC Secure Enclave abstraction: Scales HW attestation, zero trust and other security features accross all silicon platforms.

  5. Disablement of TLS 1.0/1.1: Covers design changes and support plan as a resulf of TLS v1.0 and TLSv1.1 deprecation.

  6. Teams Panels & Room scheduling support: Platform support for scheduling panels as a new device type. Features include schedule, view meetings, LED availability.

  7. IP Phones – Partner preview: Preview release with basic functionality available for Teams Phones / IP phones.

  8. Enhanced systems app customization: Introduces a customizable common MDEP system theme, including Light Theme mode.

  9. Dynamic insertion of Microsoft UI: MDEP service for introducing Microsoft Privacy and other Microsoft UI into OEM's OOBE and Settings experiences

  10. Enterprise & Government grade networking - EAP over LAN - Partner preview: Built-in preview support for Extensible Authentication Protocol over LAN, available through the Configuration API and MDEP SDK, in addition to MDEP system apps.

Partner Agent

This release of MDEP Partner Agent enhances our MTRA (Microsoft Teams Room for Android) functionality by adding support for Panels and IPPhone features. It provides comprehensive support for update management, health monitoring, and configuration management, all in line with Teams specifications. Our newest update also includes OEM customizable options for LED and Audio management to support Panels and IPPhone features. Additionally, MDEP Partner Agent now utilizes MDEP Configuration API to apply settings on devices.

Note: This release supports Teams applications and is based on Teams specification.

Out of scope in this release

Planned functionality that will be addressed in future releases:

  • Known Issue: Screen share audio fails to route to external Jabra USB speaker, both inside and outside of meeting.
  • Full IP Phone functionality
  • Sidecar device support – handling of Teams integration
