Update a template in SharePoint Agreements

Templates have their own lifecycle management requirements and will change over time as a business updates its requirements for the content of structure of agreements.

Choose a template to edit

  1. Go to the Agreements tab in Microsoft Word, and select Manage templates.

  2. In the panel, select Edit a template.

  3. Choose the appropriate workspace to see the Modern Template Library for that workspace.

  4. Select Modern Template Library to show a list of all the templates for editing.

  5. Select the template you want to edit, and then select Open template.

Prepare to edit the template

When you open the template for editing, the right-hand panel in Word displays various details. The details include the template's status (Draft or Published); metadata such as location, languages, and other fields; and information about sections and conditional sections. At the top of the panel, select Edit template.

Edit the template

After you select Edit template, you're presented with the same experience as when you create a template flow. In this case, the fields, sections, conditional sections, and any workflow that is already in place from the original template is displayed.

You can make modifications as needed to update the elements of the template. Once you're done with your changes, publish the template for the changes to take effect.

Note

Until you publish the template with the changes, the changes won't reflect in new documents generated from the template. All documents generated from the template will be based off the last published version of the template.
