Expanding presence to include work location in Microsoft Teams and Outlook
Your work location, part of your profile in Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365, can help you manage and share your work work location for today. Your profile allows you to specify details about your work schedule: from where you’re working (in the office or remotely) and whether you work different hours on different days. You can schedule meetings with others based on their work profiles, view work locations on other people’s profile cards, and see out of office time reflected in your location.

The Microsoft Teams public preview is an opt-in feature. For more information, see Microsoft Teams Public preview.
What’s new (public preview)
Many companies have multiple buildings, on-site work options, and scheduling choices. Microsoft Teams is introducing the ability for you to set and view specific work times and locations. Your profile card makes it easier for people in your organization (including guest accounts) to quickly get an overview of your online status, work hours, and work location (remote, in office, or working from a specific building).
With expanded presence, a new Microsoft Places feature that appears across Microsoft 365 apps, you can see coworkers who are nearby. This feature is available and visible across different Microsoft 365 apps, and provides heightened awareness for employees. By keeping your work location presence updated, employees make it easier to meet at desks or work neighborhoods for impromptu in-person chats, meetings, or even social gatherings such as lunch together.
Work location settings
Users are in control of their work-location information.
You can disable sharing your building location with others by unchecking Share office location details. Anyone who views your card will only see you as In-office or Remote.
If you don't want to share any details about where you'll be working, uncheck your previous location to No location, and uncheck Share office location details.
Note
This new setup experience is currently available only in new Outlook for Windows and Outlook on the web. However, setting up work hours and location will be available in Microsoft Teams, Outlook for Mac, and Outlook for iOS and Android at a later date.
Microsoft does not track or store any user’s work location presence. Work location signals about in-office locations will be aggregated and anonymized in reports for the purposes of providing admins with office-occupation trends.
