Foundry IQ is a managed knowledge layer that gives your agent permission-aware, cited answers from your data across Azure, SharePoint, OneLake, and the web. For agents powered by the Customer Conversation harness, you connect to Foundry IQ from the Microsoft IQ section of the Build tab.
Adding Foundry IQ as a tool to an agent powered by the Customer Conversation harness is similar to adding one to an agent powered by the GitHub Copilot harness. To learn more, see Connect to Foundry IQ from an agent (GitHub Copilot).
Connect to Foundry IQ
Open your agent in Copilot Studio, and select the Build tab.
Select the primary agent's card to open its configuration panel. If you've added any sub-agents, select a sub-agent's card instead to configure that sub-agent.
In the Microsoft IQ section, select Foundry IQ. The Connect Foundry IQ dialog opens.
From the Connection dropdown, select an existing connection, or select Create new connection to connect to a Foundry IQ knowledge base you have access to in Azure AI Foundry.
If you selected Create new connection, the Connect to Azure - Foundry IQ dialog opens:
- Optionally, enter a Display name for the connection. This name appears in the connection list.
- Select the Authentication type: API key, Client Certificate Auth, Service principal (Microsoft Entra ID application), or Microsoft Entra ID Integrated.
- For API key, enter the Azure AI Search endpoint and API key.
- For Client Certificate Auth, enter the Azure AI Search endpoint, tenant ID, client ID, client certificate secret, and certificate password.
- For Service principal, enter the Azure AI Search endpoint, tenant ID, client ID, and client secret.
- For Microsoft Entra ID Integrated, enter the Azure AI Search endpoint.
- Select Create.
Select a knowledge base from the list, and then select Add to agent.
Select Save.
