Set up Copilot Agent Kit by using the Setup Wizard

Access the Setup Wizard from the home page of the Copilot Agent Kit. The Setup Wizard guides you through most post-deployment steps, including:

  • Checking prerequisites
  • Setting connection references and environment variables
  • Enabling cloud flows

Select Next or Back to move through the steps.

Prerequisites

In the Confirm prerequisites step, the Setup Wizard checks that the environment has all required dependencies installed and the necessary settings are correctly configured.

Connection references

In the Connection References step, the Setup Wizard displays all connection references used by the kit. Select and update each connection reference as needed.

The kit includes the following connection references:

Name Description Notes
Copilot Agent Kit - Dataverse Microsoft Dataverse connection reference for Copilot Agent Kit Required
Copilot Agent Kit - Power Platform for Admins Lists the environments displayed in the Agent Inventory feature Required for Agent Inventory
Copilot Agent Kit - SharePoint Used by SharePoint synchronization Required for SharePoint synchronization

Environment variables

In the Configure Environment Variables step, the Setup Wizard lists all environment variables used in the Copilot Agent Kit, along with descriptions that explain their purpose, recommended configuration, and timing for setup. You can also set or update environment variables directly from this view.

The Setup Wizard covers the core environment variables shared across the kit. Features with richer configuration, such as Compliance Hub and per-agent Azure Key Vault secrets, maintain their own environment variables described on the feature pages linked in Feature-specific environment variables.

The kit includes the following core environment variables:

Name Description Notes Where used
Agent Token Endpoint Token endpoint for the Copilot Studio custom agent that powers the webchat preview. Copy the value from the agent's channel settings in Copilot Studio. Optional. The kit falls back to the emulator if you don't set this value. Adaptive Cards Gallery, WebChat Playground
Conversation KPIs Report Holds the Power BI report and workspace details (workspace name, workspace GUID, report name, report GUID) for the embedded Conversation KPIs dashboard. Required only if you use the embedded dashboard. Update after you publish the report. Configure the embedded Conversation KPI dashboard
Dataverse URL URL of the Dataverse instance that hosts your Copilot Studio custom agent—the target environment for synced content. Example: https://orgname.crm.dynamics.com. Required if you use SharePoint synchronization. SharePoint synchronization
Delay for Azure Application Insights Enrichment (Minutes) How long the kit waits after a test run before pulling additional data from Azure Application Insights. Increase if your telemetry lags; decrease for faster iteration. Default: 5 minutes. Only used when App Insights enrichment is enabled on the agent configuration. Configure agents, Enable Application Insights
Delay for Conversation Transcripts Enrichment (Minutes) How long the kit waits after a test run before pulling additional data from the Dataverse conversation transcript. Default: 60 minutes. Only used when transcript enrichment is enabled on the agent configuration. Configure agents
Enable One Inventory Controls which data source Agent Inventory uses. Set to Yes (recommended) for the consolidated One Inventory data source, which requires the Power Platform for Admins V2 connection. Set to No to fall back to the standard per-environment collection. Required for Agent Inventory. Default: Yes. Agent Inventory data collection modes
Enable Value Component Enables the automated agent-value classification flows that populate the Agent Value dashboard. Set to Yes to turn on the component. Required only if you use the Agent Value dashboard. All related Power Automate flows must also be on. Measure agent value

Feature-specific environment variables

Some features ship their own environment variables that aren't shown in the Setup Wizard's core list. Review the corresponding pages for full guidance on what to set and why:

  • Compliance Hub: 13 environment variables grouped into critical, recommended, and default categories (including App ID, Compliance Admin Group ID, Instance URL, Maker Team ID, and SLA settings). Learn more in Set up and configure Compliance Hub.
  • Per-agent secrets in Azure Key Vault: When you store agent secrets in Key Vault instead of Dataverse, create one environment variable of type secret per secret. Learn more in Configure secrets in Azure Key Vault.

Flow activation

In the Activate Flows step, you can check the status of all Copilot Agent Kit flows and select which ones to turn on. Some flows require related connection references to be configured before you can activate them, like SharePoint synchronization.

Each flow is named with a prefix that reflects the feature it supports, so you can easily identify it. Enable only the flows that correspond to the features you plan to use.
