Microsoft 365 Apps activation Unlicensed product error

When you try to activate Microsoft 365 Apps, you might encounter an error that says you have an unlicensed product.

Try the following troubleshooting methods to solve the problem.

Notes:

Remove Office credentials
  1. From Start, type credential manager, and then select Credential Manager from the search results.
  2. Select Windows credentials.
  3. If there are any credentials for MicrosoftOffice16, select the arrow next to them and then select Remove.
  4. Close Credential Manager.
  5. From Start, select Settings (the gear icon) > Accounts > Access work or school.
  6. If the account you use to sign in to office.com is listed there, but it isn’t the account you use to sign in to Windows, select it, and then select Disconnect.
  7. Restart the device and try to activate Microsoft 365 again.

Edit the Identity registry value
  1. From Start, type regedit, and then select Registry Editor from the results.
  2. Use the arrows to expand selections and navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\Identity
  3. Right-click the Identities folder and select Delete.
  4. Restart the device and try activating Microsoft 365 Apps again.
  5. If you still get the same error, open Registry Editor again, and navigate to the same location.
  6. Right-click Identity and select New.
  7. Select DWORD.
  8. Name the DWORD NoDomainUser and set the Value to 1.
  9. Restart the device and try to activate Microsoft 365 again.

Temporarily turn off User Account Control (UAC)
  1. From Start, type uac, and select Change User Account Control settings from the search results.
  2. Change the setting to Never notify, the lowest setting.
  3. Restart the device and try to activate Microsoft 365 again.
  4. After completing these steps, return UAC to its previous setting.
