3.1.2.6 Synchronization Timer

The Synchronization timer is used to ensure that any failure during lease synchronization through UPDREQ and UPDDONE is detected early. This timer is initialized when a UPDREQ or UPDREQALL message is sent from one failover endpoint to its failover partner server. The timer is reset whenever a BNDUPD message is received. This is a periodic timer with an implementation-dependent time interval; that is, unless the timer is stopped it will expire after every X minutes, where X is the time interval specified in the timer. This timer value SHOULD be set appropriately, factoring in the link speed. This timer has to be stopped when the UPDDONE message is received.<8>
