3.1.2.4 tReceive Timer

The tReceive timer helps to maintain the TCP communication between the failover partners by ensuring that messages are received at regular intervals. This timer is initialized when a connection is set up between the failover partners and is reset whenever any DHCP Failover Message is received from the failover partner. This is a periodic timer with a default value of three minutes<6>; that is, unless the timer is stopped, it will expire after every three minutes. This timer value SHOULD be set appropriately, factoring in the link speed. This timer has to be stopped when the communication between the partners is down.
