Business value

Enables individual users to purchase Power BI licenses and manage the licenses they have purchased.

Feature details

Today, admins for an organization must purchase Power BI Pro licenses and assign these to users within their organization. In some organizations, a more distributed purchasing model is desired so that individual departments, subsidiaries, or projects can acquire and manage licenses for their use. With self-service purchase, we will enable non-admins to purchase and manage licenses for users, complete with appropriate oversight and control for admins who want visibility or the ability to restrict this capability.

Geographic areas

This feature will be released into the following Microsoft Azure geographic area:

  • United States
