Business value
This feature unlocks the ability for business users to quickly create data warehouses and build reports on them without writing code or being dependent on IT.
Feature details
Self-service datamarts are fully managed relational data stores within Power BI. They can be created using a simple and familiar experience and an intuitive visual interface. Business analysts can extract data from multiple systems, transform and prep data, and create views and queries for the purposes of business intelligence. While SQL is still supported, this new experience allows analysts to create datamarts without writing a single line of code, learning DAX, or even having business analyst skills.
Power BI automates all the heavy-duty tasks of managing performance and scalability needs. Datamarts are a new object within the Power BI workspace and fully integrated with Power BI lineage and deployment pipelines. Admins will have full visibility into datamarts created in their tenant and can take over at any time with an easy on-ramp to Azure Synapse Analytics.
