Business value
You can now use the Power BI service to connect to your organizational data and create a semantic model (a Power BI dataset) from this data. Previously, creating semantic models was only possible in Power BI Desktop.
Feature details
We're redesigning the way in which users can create semantic models in Power BI as part of our effort to bring Power BI Desktop parity to the web. Our first milestone is to make available in the Power BI service all the connectors that are available in Power BI Desktop. In future milestones, we'll improve the get data experience to make it easy to discover existing content, preventing the proliferation of datasets within an organization.
