Steps for Deploying iSCSI Boot Nodes with Microsoft HPC Pack
The following checklist describes the overall process for deploying iSCSI boot nodes in a cluster that is running Windows HPC Server 2008 R2. Each task in the checklist is linked to the section that describes the steps to perform the task.

| Step 1: Install the iSCSI Provider on the Head Node | On the head node, install the iSCSI provider for your iSCSI storage arrays. |
| Step 2: Configure the iSCSI Provider | If the iSCSI provider for your iSCSI storage arrays needs to be configured after installation, configure it by following the instructions provided by the vendor of your storage arrays. If you are using an HPC Pack iSCSI provider, you do not need to perform this step. |
| Step 3: Add the iSCSI Storage Arrays | Provide the management IP address for each iSCSI storage array that you want to use to deploy iSCSI boot nodes. |
| Step 4: Add Nodes for iSCSI Deployment | Add to your cluster the nodes that you want to deploy over iSCSI. One of these nodes is used as the base node. |
| Step 5: Deploy the Base Node | Deploy the base node over iSCSI. |
| Step 6: Modify the Base Node | If you need to, you can modify the base node to customize it for your deployment of iSCSI boot nodes. |
| Step 7: Create a Base Node Image | Create an image of the base node. This image is used to deploy the iSCSI boot nodes. |
| Step 8: Create a Node Template for the iSCSI Boot Nodes | Create a node template for deploying your iSCSI boot nodes. This template references the base node image and the iSCSI storage arrays where the nodes are deployed. |
| Step 9: Deploy iSCSI Boot Nodes | Add iSCSI boot nodes to the cluster by deploying them using the base node image and the node template that you created. |
