MCI_ESCAPE

The MCI_ESCAPE command sends a string directly to the device. Videodisc devices recognize this command.

To send this command, call the mciSendCommand function with the following parameters.

  MCIDEVICEID wDeviceID, 
  MCI_ESCAPE, 
  DWORD dwFlags, 
  (DWORD) (LPMCI_VD_ESCAPE_PARMS) lpEscape
);

Parameters

wDeviceID

Device identifier of the MCI device that is to receive the command message.

dwFlags

MCI_NOTIFY or MCI_WAIT. For information about these flags, see The Wait, Notify, and Test Flags.

lpEscape

Pointer to an MCI_VD_ESCAPE_PARMS structure.

Return Values

Returns zero if successful or an error otherwise.

Remarks

The data sent with MCI_ESCAPE is device-dependent and is usually passed directly to the hardware associated with the device.

The following additional flag applies to videodisc devices:

MCI_VD_ESCAPE_STRING

A command string is specified in the lpstrCommand member of the structure identified by lpEscape. This flag is required.

Requirements

**  Windows NT/2000/XP:** Included in Windows NT 3.1 and later.
**  Windows 95/98/Me:** Included in Windows 95 and later.
**  Header:** Declared in Mmsystem.h; include Windows.h.
