How to: Open the Deployment Editors

The deployment editors are used to configure an installer that you create with a deployment project. Each deployment project includes six editors: the File System Editor, the Registry Editor, the File Types Editor, the User Interface Editor, the Custom Actions Editor, and the Launch Conditions Editor.

Note

For merge module projects the User Interface Editor and the Launch Conditions Editor are not available; for Cab projects no editors are available.

When a deployment project is first added to a solution, the File System Editor is displayed.

Note

The dialog boxes and menu commands you see might differ from those described in Help depending on your active settings or edition. To change your settings, choose Import and Export Settings on the Tools menu. For more information, see Visual Studio Settings.

To open a deployment editor

  1. Select a deployment project in Solution Explorer.

  2. On the View menu, point to Editor, and then click the name of the editor that you want to open.

    Tip

The deployment editors can also be opened from Solution Explorer. When a deployment project is selected, a button appears on the toolbar for each available editor. Alternatively, you can right-click your deployment project, point to View, and then click the name of the editor that you want to open.
