For information about obtaining a license to include support for or redistribute Windows Media Player components on your Web site, in your application, or on your devices, see the licensing and redistribution links on the Windows Media Web site.
To include Windows Media Player in your application, use one of the following Windows Media Player installation packages.
- MPSetup.exe
- MPSetupXP.exe
- MP10Setup.exe
- wmp11-windowsxp-x86-localeId.exe
- wmp11-windowsxp-x64-localeId.exe
The MPSetup.exe package is supported on Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows Millennium Edition, Windows 2000, and Windows XP.
MPSetupXP.exe and MP10Setup.exe are optimized for and will run only on Windows XP. There is no functional difference between installing MPSetup.exe and MPSetupXP.exe on a computer running Windows XP.
Use the wmp11-windowsxp-x86-localeId.exe and wmp11-windowsxp-x64-localeId.exe packages to install Windows Media Player 11 on a computer running Windows XP. Note that localeId is a placeholder for a locale identifier.
