How to: Run a Different Language Version with the Emulator

Emulator images are available for each language that ships for Windows Mobile-based Pocket PCs. Each language is available with or without support for a hardware Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) radio attached to the serial port of the development computer. By default, the emulator loads the nonradio image.

Note   The development workstation can have multiple Pocket PC emulator images installed at one time. These images are available at: https://www.microsoft.com/mobile/developer/downloads/default.asp.

To select a different language version with the emulator

  1. In eMbedded Visual C++, on the Tools menu, click Configure Platform Manager.

  2. In the device list, click Pocket PC 2003 Emulator, and then click Properties.

  3. Click the Configure button to the right of the Startup Server drop-down list box.

  4. In the Image list box, choose from the following:

    Note   The emulator does support input of East Asian characters, even with East Asian emulator images.

    1. Portuguese (Brazil)
    2. Chinese — Simplified
    3. Chinese — Traditional
    4. English
    5. French
    6. German
    7. Italian
    8. Japanese
    9. Spanish
