Creating a New Global Group Account

You can add a new global group to a machine running Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Server that is set up as the domain controller. The New Global Group option is unavailable when Low Speed Connection is selected or when you administer a computer running Windows 2000 Professional or a Windows 2000 Server that is not a domain controller.

Note   You must have domain administrator privileges to create a global group.

To create a new global group

  1. From the Start menu, point to Programs, then Administrative Tools, and then click Active Directory Users and Groups.
  2. In the tree-view, select User.
  3. From the Action menu, choose New, and choose Group.
  4. In the Group Name box, type a group name.
  5. In the Description box, type a description for the group.
  6. To add members, select one or more user accounts in Not Members, and click Add.
  7. To remove members from the new group, select one or more user accounts in Members, and click Remove.
