Real-Time Transport Protocol (RTP) is the standard Internet protocol used to transport real-time data.
After SIP establishes a session, the RTC Client API uses RTP to transfer media information, like voice.
RTP is a thin protocol that supports real-time applications containing continuous media such as the following:
- Audio
- Timing reconstruction
- Loss detection
- Security
- Content identification
Real-Time Control Protocol (RTCP) is a complementary protocol to RTP and manages information about packet losses and latency in the network.
