Running the Protected Document Library Sample

This SDK comes with a document store that is run by using a Web browser. After you have installed and configured the sample application as explained in Installing the Protected Document Library Sample, follow these directions to run the application:

To run the sample

  1. Create an MHT file by using Microsoft Office or Internet Explorer. You can do this by opening the Save As dialog box and selecting *.mht format in the Save as type drop-down box.

  2. Use a Web browser to browse to the Rmhstore.aspx page in the virtual directory you created in step 4 of Installing the Protected Document Library Sample.

Note  If you are using an RM account certification service that is not registered in Active Directory, you must have installed the registry key value specified in the last step of Installing the Protected Document Library Sample.

  3. You can now try two different actions. You can upload a document from your computer and have the document library protect and store it, or you can view a protected document by using the Rights Management Add-on for Internet Explorer.

    To upload and protect only

    1. Type the path and name of the MHT document you want to submit in the File to Publish text box, or click the Browse button to find the file on your computer.
    2. Click the Publish button to submit a document to the document store.

    To view a document

    1. Enter your fully-qualified Windows e-mail address in the User Email ID text box, in the format someone@example.com.
    2. Select an existing protected document to view in the Protected Documents list box. Alternatively, you can choose to submit a document from your computer. If you submit a new document, this document will be uploaded, protected, and added to the license store, as if you had followed the directions for uploading and protecting a document.
    3. Click the Download file button to submit a document, acquire a use license, and retrieve and display the newly protected document by using the Rights Management Add-on for Internet Explorer. (Note that the add-on must be installed on the viewing computer for this to work.)
