Management Pack Enhancements for Operations Manager 2007

In Operations Manager 2007, Management Packs from Microsoft and other vendors are sealed, versioned, and signed with a certificate. After a Management Pack is imported into an Operations Manager 2007 Management Server, it immediately begins monitoring objects based on default configurations and thresholds. You can customize these default settings using either overrides or by creating new monitoring objects such as monitors, rules, and tasks.

Because vendor Management Packs are sealed, any customizations you create are saved to a separate unsealed Management Pack. This way when a new version of a sealed Management Pack becomes available, the original Management Pack is replaced but your customizations are retained. Sealed Management Packs also make it easy to remove a Management Pack from your network once you no longer need it.
