To create an RPC protocol definition

  1. In the console tree of ISA Management, right-click Protocol Definitions.

For array policy protocol definitions, where?

Internet Security and Acceleration Server > Servers and Arrays > Name  > Policy Elements > Protocol Definitions

For enterprise policy protocol definitions, where?

Internet Security and Acceleration Server > Enterprise > Policy Elements > Protocol Definitions

  2. Click New, and then click RPC Protocol.

  3. In the New RPC Protocol Definition Wizard, type the name of the protocol definition and a description, and then click Next.

  4. On the Select Server page, select the method you will use to add the interfaces to the protocol definition:

    • To select the UUID interfaces available on the RPC server you are publishing, click Select interfaces.

    • To manually define UUID interfaces for the protocol definition, click Add interfaces manually.

  5. Follow the instructions to select or define the UUID interfaces, and then click Next.

Notes

  • To open ISA Management, click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft ISA Server, and then click ISA Management.

  • Although it is possible to create an RPC protocol definition with a name identical to an ISA Server protocol definition, it is not recommended.

  • RPC protocol definitions may only be created from RPC interfaces having TCP protocol sequences.

  • RPC protocol definitions are used in server publishing rules to allow or deny external clients access to remote procedure calls on an internal RPC server.
