Configuring a Domain Controller

This section provides steps for configuring the domain controller. The domain controller runs the Active Directory directory service and Authorization Manager to handle security for all servers and devices on a network, and permissions and log on authentication for users.

Do not install Commerce Server 2009 on a domain controller. Commerce Server 2009 does not support installations on a domain controller. For more information about how to install Windows Server 2003 or 2008 as a domain controller, see the Windows Server Help for the version of Windows that you are using.

Follow these steps to configure the domain controllers:

  1. Install Active Directory and DNS. For more information, see How to Install Active Directory and DNS.

  2. Setup domain accounts and groups. For more information, see the following topics:
