Setting Up Your Web Servers
This section applies to a four-computer configuration containing a pair of Web servers using Network Load Balancing (NLB) and a pair of SQL Server cluster servers. For more information about the configuration, see Small Site Configuration.
To set up your Web servers, ensure you do the following:
Verify that your Web servers are the computers you will use to host your Web sites and the Commerce Server run-time components. To separate the business logic tier from the database tier, your Web servers should not contain any of your databases. Before you install Commerce Server 2000, you must ensure that the required software platform exists on your Web servers. For more information, see Software Requirements.
Install Windows 2000 Server or Advanced Server.
Verify that Windows 2000 NLB clusters have been set up.
Verify that an Internet Information Services (IIS) 5.0 Web site has been created for each of your sites.
