Catalog Sets
You determine which catalog a user sees on your site by creating catalog sets. A catalog set is a group of one or more catalogs that you make available to different users or organizations.
A catalog set is different from an aggregated catalog in that they consist of different components and provide availability in different ways.
- An aggregated catalog is the combination of multiple catalogs into one virtual catalog.
- A catalog set is a group of one or more catalogs that you make available to different users or organizations. You can then create a catalog set that includes aggregated catalogs, and other catalogs in your database.
You specify which users or organizations can view the catalogs in a catalog set; an aggregated catalog can be available to all users, if the aggregated catalog is not a member of a catalog set.
To create a catalog set, for example, you might create two base catalogs and a virtual catalog, define a catalog set that includes the two base catalogs and the virtual catalog, and then display the catalog set to members of a specific organization. The following figure shows how members of a soccer club can view the Team Clothes catalog that has special pricing.
You use Business Desk Profiles modules to specify which catalog set a user can view. When you create a new user, you specify the catalog set name.
