About the Profiles Resource
You use the Profiles resource to collect, track, and store data from and about users by creating data sources, profile definitions, and site terms. You use profile definitions to collect user and business data from your Microsoft Commerce Server 2002 Web site. You use data sources as a link to the underlying data server (LDAP or DB3 source). You create site terms to provide a limited set of choices for users when they enter personal preferences or other information on your Web site.
You use the Profiles resource to:
- Create data sources, data objects, and data members
- Create and validate profile definitions
- Export and import profile schema
You can use both the Profiles resource and the Business Desk Profiles modules to:
- Create, edit, and delete site terms
- Edit and delete profile definitions
- Create, edit, and delete profiles
