How to Add Pricing Rules to a Virtual Catalog

This topic describes how to add pricing rules to a virtual catalog item. For example, you can add a pricing rule, such as a discount percentage, to products, product variants, categories, or a whole catalog.
To add a pricing rule
Click Start, point to Microsoft Commerce Server 2007 , and then click Catalog Manager.
In Commerce Server Catalog Manager, in the Views pane, click Catalogs.
In the Catalogs pane, select the virtual catalog to which you want to add the pricing rule, and then in the Task pane, click Add an Existing Item.
On the Welcome to the Add an Existing Virtual Catalog Item Wizard page, click Next.
On the Item Selection page, do the following:

Click Browse to open the Product Picker dialog box.
You use the Product Picker dialog box to find the product, product variant, or category you want to add to the virtual catalog.
Select a Catalog
Select the name of the catalog you want to add.
When you select a catalog, the rule applies to the whole catalog. The catalog name appears in the Select Item box.

Note:
The Exclude option on the following screen, which is the Rule Properties screen, is unavailable if you select a catalog to which you want to apply a rule. To apply the Exclude option, you must delete the Include rule that includes the catalog.Click Next.
On the Rule Properties page, do the following:

Rule Type
Select the pricing rule type from the drop-down list.
Note:
You must make sure that the items already exist in your virtual catalog before applying the pricing rules. These items are not automatically included.Pricing Rule Type
Select the pricing rule typefrom the drop-down list. The following options are available:
Set Price. Sets the price for the item.
Add. Adds the additional price to the regular item price.
Add Percentage. Adds a percentage to the regular item price.
Discount. Subtracts a discount price from the regular item price.
Discount Percentage. Subtracts a discount percentage from the regular item price.
No Change. No price change.
Price Amount
Type the price amount for the pricing rule type you selected in the previous box.
Click Create.
On the Completing the Add Existing Virtual Catalog Item Wizard page, click Finish.
Note
Verify that the Rebuild Virtual Catalog check box is selected. To make the pricing rule available to the virtual catalog, you must rebuild the virtual catalog.
