<user> Element

Allows definition of user name and password credentials within the configuration file.

<configuration>
   <system.web>
      <authentication>
         <credentials>
            <user>

<user name="username" password="password"/>

Required Attributes

Attribute Description
name The logon user name.
password The user's password.

Example

The following example sets password format and supplies a user name and password.

<authentication mode="Windows">
   <credentials passwordFormat="SHA1">
      <user name="UserName" 
            password="07B7F3EE06F278DB966BE960E7CBBD103DF30CA6"/>
   </credentials>
</authentication>
