How to: Open the Type Hierarchy Context

This topic describes how to open the Type hierarchy context to display hierarchical details for a single application object.

To open the Type hierarchy context

  • From the developer workspace, click Tools > Type hierarchy context.

    The Type hierarchy context displays in a docked pane in the developer workspace. It displays detailed hierarchical information for the selected type. You can click any node in the hierarchy to open the Type hierarchy browser for that type. You can also right-click any node in the hierarchy to open a menu for that type:

    Compile

    Enables you to compile the current table and related tables:

    • This table: compiles only the current table.

    • Forward: compiles the current table and all its children.

    • Backward: traverses the tree to the parent of the current table; compiles the root table and its children down to and including the current table.

    Compile

    Enables you to compile the current class and related classes:

    • This class: compiles only the current class.

    • Forward: compiles the current class and all its children.

    • Backward: traverses the tree to the parent of the current class; compiles the root class and its children down to and including the current class.

    • Classes

    Edit

    Opens the class or table in the code editor.

    • Tables

    • Maps

    • Views

    • Classes

    Add-Ins

    Provides access to the Add-Ins Submenu.
