How to: Set Up Visual Studio for Enterprise Portal Development

Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 is required to create or modify User Controls for Enterprise Portal. After Visual Studio 2010 is installed, you must use the Microsoft Dynamics AX Setup to install the Visual Studio Tools.

Setting Up Visual Studio for Enterprise Portal Development

To set up Visual Studio for Enterprise Portal development

  1. You must be using Visual Studio 2010 Professional, Visual Studio 2010 Premium, or Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate.

  2. When selecting the components to install, make sure that you include the following:

    • Visual C#

    • Visual Web Developer

  3. Run the Microsoft Dynamics AX Setup and choose to install the Visual Studio Tools. These tools include the following components:

    • Visual Studio add-in

    • Project templates

    • Toolbox components

    Note

    When the Visual Studio Tools are installed, the Visual Studio environment is automatically reconfigured to make the tools available. This process may take several moments to finish.
