Financial dimension values (form)

Click General ledger > Setup > Financial dimensions > Financial dimensions. Select a financial dimension, and then click Financial dimension values.
Use this form to set up the details for financial dimension values. You can set options for dimension values that can be shared between legal entities. You can also set options for dimension values that are based on the legal entity that you specify.
Depending on the selection in the Select the level of dimension value to display field, some fields will not be available.

This topic includes information about features that were added or changed for cumulative update 7 or later for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2. This information also applies to AX 2012 R3.

Financial statement formatting |
Set up the layout of the selected dimension value as it is displayed on financial statements. This FastTab is displayed only when Companies is selected in the Select the level of dimension value to display field. |

Set up the options for transaction control for cost accounting. This FastTab is displayed only when Companies is selected in the Select the level of dimension value to display field. |

Open the External codes form, where you can set up, define, and maintain external codes for the financial dimension value that is used when documents are sent and received electronically through Application Integration Framework (AIF). |
Translations |
Enter language translation text for the description of the custom financial dimension value. You only can enter translation text if < Custom dimension > is selected in the Use values from field in the Financial dimensions form. |
Totals |
Open the Dimension value interval form, where you can define the intervals of financial dimension values that are included in the total financial dimension value that is selected. This button is available only when the Calculate total from multiple dimension values check box is selected for the financial dimension value. |

Select the level of dimension value to display |
Select the level of the financial dimension value to display:

Companies |
Select a legal entity to view information about the financial dimension value that is specific to the legal entity. If this field is blank, click the button to the right of the field, and then select a legal entity. This control is available only when Companies is selected in the Select the level of dimension value to display field. |
Active from |
Enter or select the date when the financial dimension value becomes active. If the date fields are blank, the financial dimension value remains active unless you select the Suspended check box. |
Active to |
Enter or select the date when the financial dimension value is no longer active. If the date fields are blank, the financial dimension value remains active unless you select the Suspended check box. A financial dimension value is considered inactive when the Microsoft Dynamics AX system date falls outside the range that is indicated by the Active from and Active to fields. Beginning with cumulative update 7 for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, if the financial dimension is inactive, it is not displayed in lookup windows in Office Add-ins for Microsoft Dynamics AX. |
Suspended |
Select this check box to prevent all postings to the selected financial dimension value. You cannot suspend a financial dimension value that is assigned as a budget group account on another account. To remove this assignment, you have to modify the criteria for the budget group member that has the financial dimension that contains that account. For more information, see “Optional: Define budget groups” in Set up budget control. Beginning with cumulative update 7 for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, if the Suspended check box is selected, the financial dimension value is not displayed in lookup windows in Office Add-ins. |
Owner |
Select the employee number for the worker who is responsible for maintaining this financial dimension value. |
Group dimension |
Enter a name for the group dimension. This name can be used to group specific financial dimension values into the same dimension value when you consolidate legal entities. This field is available only when Shared value is selected in the Select the level of dimension value to display field. |
Calculate total from multiple dimension values |
Select this check box to add together amounts from one or more financial dimension values. This field is available only when Shared value is selected in the Select the level of dimension value to display field. |
Do not allow manual entry |
Select this check box to prevent default data for this financial dimension value from being displayed in journals. This field is available only when Shared value is selected in the Select the level of dimension value to display field. |
Invert sign |
Select this check box to hide the minus sign on the financial statement report when this financial dimension value is represented. Typically, when revenue and expenses are displayed in both credit and debit balances, credit balances have a minus sign and debit balances have no sign. When this check box is selected, the minus sign in front of revenue amounts is not displayed on the report. This field is displayed only when Companies is selected in the Select the level of dimension value to display field. |
Column |
Select the column number that the financial dimension value is printed to when the financial statement is printed. You can define how many columns are used to print a single column definition. Example You enter 2 in the Number of columns field in the Financial statement (traditional) form. For a definition that shows the current balance, the balance for this financial dimension value is printed in two columns. This field is displayed only when Companies is selected in the Select the level of dimension value to display field. |
Bold |
Select this check box to make the selected financial dimension value bold on the financial statement. This field is displayed only when Companies is selected in the Select the level of dimension value to display field. |
Italics |
Select this check box to make the selected financial dimension value italic on the financial statement. This field is displayed only when Companies is selected in the Select the level of dimension value to display field. |
Line above |
Select this check box to precede the selected financial dimension value with a blank line on the printout of the financial statement. This field is displayed only when Companies is selected in the Select the level of dimension value to display field. |
Line below |
Select this check box to follow the selected financial dimension value with a blank line on the printout of the financial statement. This field is displayed only when Companies is selected in the Select the level of dimension value to display field. |
Underline text |
Select this check box to underline the text when the selected financial dimension value is printed on the financial statement. This field is displayed only when Companies is selected in the Select the level of dimension value to display field. |
Underline amount |
Select this check box to underline the amounts when the selected financial dimension value is printed on the financial statement. This field is displayed only when Companies is selected in the Select the level of dimension value to display field. |
Blocked for cost transactions |
Select this check box to prevent a user from entering a cost transaction for this financial dimension value in Cost accounting. This field is displayed only when Companies is selected in the Select the level of dimension value to display field. |
Blocked for service transactions |
Select this check box to prevent a user from entering a service transaction for this financial dimension value in Cost accounting. This field is displayed only when Companies is selected in the Select the level of dimension value to display field. |
Blocked for distribution |
Select this check box to prevent a user from entering a distribution for this financial dimension value in Cost accounting. This field is displayed only when Companies is selected in the Select the level of dimension value to display field. |
Blocked for allocation |
Select this check box to prevent a user from entering an allocation for this financial dimension value in Cost accounting. This field is displayed only when Companies is selected in the Select the level of dimension value to display field. |
