How to: Set Up Correction Types

Correction codes are used for revised returns. You must set up correction types as one of the prerequisites to calculate Tax Collected at Source (TCS) or Tax Deducted at Source (TDS). For more information, see How to: Set Up Tax Collected at Source or How to: Set Up Tax Deducted at Source.

The following procedure describes how to set up correction types for TCS, but the same steps also apply to setting up correction types for TDS.

To set up correction types for tax collected at source

  1. In the Search box, enter Correction Codes, and then choose the related link.

  2. On the Home tab, choose New.

  3. Fill in the fields as described in the following table.

    Field Description

    Code

    The unique correction code. You can enter a maximum of 10 alphanumeric characters.

    Description

    The correction code description. You can enter a maximum of 30 alphanumeric characters.

    Correction Type

    Specify the correction type.

    Sorting Order

    The sort order of the Correction Type field. To correct multiple batches, you must sort the Correction Type field as per instruction given by the Income Tax Department.

  4. Choose the OK button.
