Simplified UX

Microsoft Dynamics NAV provides a set of simplified pages and related objects under the name Simplified UX. Simplified UX provides simplifications to the standard user interface, with a focus on basic sales and purchase business processes for smaller businesses.

You can use Simplified UX to build your solutions, either as an extension, as a modification, or just as a part of the Simplified UX that is being used.

In brief, Simplified UX:

  • Includes all objects in the 13xx range and Role Center 9022 for Small Business.

  • Comprises around 100 objects, including more than 60 pages that have been simplified, plus one Role Center.

  • Focuses on basic sales and purchase scenarios.

  • Provides localized Simplified UX pages.

  • Uses the same tables that define standard Microsoft Dynamics NAV.

Simplified UX objects are included in the starter pack.

Limitations on Using the Simplified UX Objects

The Simplified UX objects are available for you to build your own volume offerings on, but you must be aware of the following challenges:

  • Users can access standard Microsoft Dynamics NAV pages through the Simplified UX pages, for example in look-ups through the Advanced button and by using Search.

  • A solution for small businesses typically requires standard Microsoft Dynamics NAV features in addition to those provided with Simplified UX. Accordingly, Small Business Role Center 9022 also permits access to certain standard Microsoft Dynamics NAV features, but these do not have simplified UI.

  • The Starter Pack license may give access to fields and functionality that is not available through Simplified UX pages. Accordingly, permission sets must be defined to restrict user access to functionality that is outside of Simplified UX.

  • No demo data is currently available, W1 or Local, for setting up a new Simplified UX company using Role Center 9022. Accordingly, you must add local demo data to the solution if you want to speed up the deployment process.

Tip

For more information on how to navigate in the user interface, see Work with Microsoft Dynamics NAV. For assistance in finding specific pages, see Search.
