Always Create Pick Line Field, Location Table

Specifies that a pick line is created even if an appropriate zone and bin from which to pick the item cannot be found. The zone code and bin number on the line will be empty, and you must fill in these fields manually before you can register the pick.

A pick line created with an empty zone code and bin number behaves like a warehouse movement line of action type Take, and items from all zones and bins can be picked. This is not the case, however, if a bin belongs to a bin type that has a checkmark in the Receive column.

Note

It is not recommended that you use the Always Create Pick Line option if your system-directed pick and put-away location operates with a real-time automatic capture system. The Always Create Pick Line option is designed to handle the time gap that occurs between the creation of a pick, possible printing of the pick, and eventual picking; in that time gap, goods may have been put away or approved at a quality control zone checkpoint.

Warning

Irrespective of your location setup, the Always Create Pick Line option may cause availability issues by allowing you to manually pick and ship items that are reserved for other sales orders or allocated to other picks. The reason is that such pick lines that are always created for outbound documents override existing reservations and pick calculations.
