Disable the Exchange Control Panel


Applies to: Exchange Server 2010 SP2

If your multi-tenant organization wants to provide an interface other than the Exchange Control Panel (ECP) for tenant administrators to control their organization, you must disable ECP.

This procedure disables ECP for all tenants. You must perform this procedure on all Client Access servers in your organization.

Use Registry Editor to disable ECP


Incorrectly editing the registry can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Problems resulting from editing the registry incorrectly may not be able to be resolved. Before editing the registry, back up any valuable data.

  1. Start Registry Editor (regedit).

  2. Navigate to \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ExchangeServer\v14.

  3. In the console tree, right-click v14, point to New, and then click DWORD (32-bit) Value.

  4. In the result pane, rename the new DWORD value to OMECPDisabled.


    You don't need to assign a value to the registry key.

  5. Restart the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service for the changes to take effect.
