Turn on POP Access Before Connecting to Your Gmail Account

Before you connect to your Gmail account from your cloud-based account, you need to enable POP access by signing in to your Gmail account.

Note

This feature may not be available for your account.

How do I enable POP access for Gmail?

  1. Sign in to your Gmail account.

  2. Click Settings > Forwarding and POP/IMAP.

  3. Under POP Download, select one of the following options:

    • Enable POP for all mail (even mail that's already been downloaded)   If you select this option, all old and new e-mail will be downloaded to your cloud-based account.

    • Enable POP for mail that arrives from now on   If you select this option, only new e-mail will be downloaded to your cloud-based account.

You can also choose to keep a copy of your e-mail in your Gmail account.

  4. Click Save Changes.

What else do I need to know?

  • If you want all mail to be downloaded, make sure you've selected the Enable POP for all mail (even mail that's already been downloaded) option.

  • If you want Gmail to keep a copy of your mail in your Gmail inbox, select Keep Gmail's copy in the inbox under Settings > Forwarding and POP/IMAP > POP Download > When messages are accessed with POP.
