Format Messages

Applies to: Office 365 for professionals and small businesses, Office 365 for enterprises, Microsoft Exchange, Live@edu

Messages composed in HTML instead of in plain text can be formatted to change the appearance of their text and their layout.

How do I change the default message font?

  1. Click Options > Settings > Mail.
  2. Under Message Format, select the options you want.
  3. Click Save to save your settings.

What else do I need to know?

  • The message font settings are only applicable if you select HTML. If you select Plain text, all messages will be composed in plain text and will use the default font and font size of your browser.

  • Use the formatting options on the message toolbar to format individual e-mail messages.

  • For information about how to format messages using keyboard shortcuts, see "Text Editing" and "Text Formatting" in Keyboard Shortcuts.

  • The following table shows the formatting options on the message toolbar. Some of these buttons are displayed based on the direction of the text in the current language, left-to-right (LTR) or right-to-left (RTL). You may have to click Customize more options to view some of these options.
