What else do I need to know?

  • Most e-mail accounts require a minimum number of characters or a minimum level of complexity for passwords. The requirements are set by your administrator. For information about the password requirements for your account, contact your helpdesk.
  • To help make your password more secure, you can:
    • Use a minimum of eight characters (your account may require more or less).
    • Use a mix of capital and lowercase letters.
    • Use numbers as well as letters.
    • Use punctuation or other non-alphanumeric characters.
  • Depending on the settings for your account, you may not be able to change your password using Outlook Web App. If you don't see the Password tab, either the feature has been disabled by your administrator, or you need to change your password using Windows Live. For more information about how to change the password for a Windows Live account, see Change Your Account Password.
