Create a Contact for Voice Mail

Applies to: Office 365 for enterprises, Microsoft Exchange

If you set up your Windows Mobile phone without changing the voice mail number or you've set up a non-Windows Mobile phone for voice mail, you'll need to create a contact that can be assigned a speed dial key.

How do I create a contact for voice mail?

There are three ways you can create a contact:

  • Create a contact on your mobile phone.
  • Create a personal Contact using Outlook Web App or Outlook that's set up for voice mail.
  • Create a personal Contact using Outlook Web App or Outlook, and then set up your mobile phone to copy to your mobile phone using Exchange ActiveSync. Then the contacts will be copied to your mobile phone.

Contacts on your mobile phone are used as your personal e-mail address book. You can use them to store information about the people and businesses you communicate with regularly. You can store the e-mail address, street address, telephone numbers, and other information about a contact. This can also include Web pages, fax numbers, or mobile or work phone numbers.

What else do I need to know?

  • There are two types of contacts: those that are stored only on your mobile phone and personal Contacts that are stored in Outlook Web App. These contacts can be the same if you've set up your mobile phone to synchronize your account.
  • It's easier to manage your contacts in Outlook Web App and then copy or synchronize them to your mobile phone than to manage your mobile phone or SIM contacts on your mobile phone.
