Create a Chat Group

You can create groups in your Contact List and use them to organize your chat contacts.

How do I create a chat group?

  • Right-click Contact List on any existing chat contact or group and click New > New Group.
  • Enter a name for your group, and then press ENTER.

What else do I need to know?

  • To rename a chat group, right-click the group name and click Rename Group. Type the new name in the text box, and then press ENTER.
  • After you've created a group, add people from your Contact List to it by dragging their names to the group.
  • Groups in your Outlook Web App Contact List are called Categories in the latest version of Windows Live Messenger.
  • Groups in your Contacts folder are not shared with your Contact List.
