Turn On or Off Voice Mail Preview

Applies to: Office 365 for enterprises, Microsoft Exchange

You can preview the text of voice messages you receive. You can also include text previews with voice messages you send.

How do I turn on or turn off voice mail previews?

  1. In Outlook Web App, click Options > See All Options > Phone > Voice Mail tab.
  2. Under Voice Mail Preview, select the voice mail preview option you prefer.
    1. Select the Include preview text with voice messages I receive check box if you want to preview text included in voice mail message you receive. If you don't want to receive the preview text, clear the Include preview text with voice messages I receive check box.
    2. Select the Include preview text with voice messages I send through Outlook Voice Access check box to include a voice mail preview with your voice mail message. If you don't want to include the preview text, clear the Include preview text with voice messages I send through Outlook Voice Access receive check box.
  3. After you've turned on or turned off voice mail previews, click Save.

What else do I need to know?

  • Voice mail previews are only available in some languages.
  • Although you can use any e-mail program to read the voice mail preview text, there are additional features available when you use Outlook 2010 or Outlook Web App as your e-mail program. For example, in Outlook 2010, when a specific word is clicked in the Voice Mail Preview text, the audio playback of the voice message will start to play at that word.
