How to Get the Build Utility
The Build utility is included in the Windows Driver Kit (WDK) as a tool for writers of device drivers. For more information about how to obtain the WDK and Windows Logo Kit (WLK), see the How to Get the WDK and the WLK webpage.
The WDK includes build environments that you can use to create drivers for Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, and Windows XP.
Note Previous releases of the WDK and DDK are available on the WDK Connect site in archive packages and are available for reference only. Please note that archive packages are not supported.
The Install.htm file, which is located in the root installation directory of the WDK, describes the following:
The operating system platforms on which you can install the WDK.
The operating system platforms on which you can use the WDK to build drivers and application software.
