Roadmaps

Roadmaps are designed to guide you through the driver development process. By following the steps in each roadmap, you should be able to create an installable driver.

Display drivers can be written according to either the Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) or the Windows 2000 display driver model (XDDM). WDDM drivers run only on Windows Vista and later, while XDDM drivers run on Windows 2000 through Windows 7. However, to take advantage of the latest software and hardware features, you must write your display drivers according to the WDDM driver model.
