Building Workflow Solutions for SharePoint Online

Building Workflow solutions for SharePoint Online allows you to automate collaboration-centric business processes and surface them to your users via SharePoint Online. In this session, you’ll learn the differences between declarative and code-based workflows, design a workflow using Visio 2010, implement that workflow in SharePoint Designer 2010 and customize the workflow using Visual Studio 2010 and custom actions.

Hands-On Labs

  • Building Workflow Solutions

In this lab, you will model a simple workflow in Visio 2010 to approve a non-standard business purchase request. You will then implement the workflow in SharePoint Designer 2010 and deploy it to your SharePoint 2010 on-premises website. Finally, you will save the workflow as a template and deploy it to SharePoint Online.

  • Implementing a Custom Workflow Action in Visual Studio

In this lab, you will use Visual Studio 2010 to create a custom workflow action that will get executed when a workflow is completed. You will deploy the custom workflow action to SharePoint Online and integrate it into the Non-Standard Business Purchase Request workflow.
