Applications Passing the Windows Server 2008 R2 Platform Ready Test Qualify to Use the “Works with Windows Server 2008 R2” Logo

Effective March 31, 2013, the Windows Server 2008 R2 Logo Program will no longer be accepting submissions. Windows Server 2012 is the preferred platform for current Application Development Competencies and Certified for Windows Server Logo.

The "Certified for" and "Works with" programs require applications to be tested on Windows Server 2008 R2 in a Hyper-V environment.

The new baseline for all Logo testing will be on virtual machines running Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. Note that Hyper-V server may be running either:

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1
  • Windows Server 2012

The "Works with Windows Server 2008 R2" logo designates applications that are compatible with the platform according to Microsoft-recommended standards. Self-test your applications using the free test tools downloaded from the Microsoft Platform Ready website and earn the "Works with" logo.

  1. Get Windows Server 2008 R2

Test your application on the latest version of Windows Server 2008 R2 with Hyper-V to verify compatibility with your applications. Download the latest build of Windows Server 2008 R2.

  2. Get Technical Guidance

Register your application at the Microsoft Platform Ready (MPR) website, then download documents and tools:

    • "Microsoft Platform Ready" Tool for Windows Server 2008 R2

The "Microsoft Platform Ready" Tool is a highly automated tool that will help you quickly determine baseline compatibility with Windows Server 2008 R2.
