Find places near a point on the map
Find and select a point on the map.
On the Tools menu, click Find Nearby Places.

On the Standard toolbar, click Find Nearby Places

.Click Show or Hide Places.
Click the Restaurants or Places tab.
Select the check box next to each category of restaurant or place that you'd like to see on the map, and then click OK.
Tip To quickly select just a few categories, click Uncheck All, and then select the check box next to each category that you'd like to see on the map.
In the Search box in the Find Nearby Places pane, select the radius in which you want to search.
In the Around list, select what the search should be centered on. If you select Point, the search is centered on the point that you selected on the map. If you select Current location, the search is centered on your location as determined from your GPS device or by using Location Finder.
Note If you do not have a GPS device or a Wi-Fi-enabled computer so that you can use Location Finder, the Around list displays Point by default.
In the Sort list, select whether you'd like to see the results listed in alphabetical order by name or by distance (how far they are) from the selected point on the map.
Click Search to display a list of nearby places.
Click a place name in the results list to see its location on the map.

MapPoint has information, such as addresses and telephone numbers, for many points of interest. To display this information, click Show Information .gif)
while the place name is selected in the results list.
With MapPoint, you also can view points of interest on an Windows Live Local map. Click Show in Windows Live Local .gif)
